Diane Duane is an American science fiction and fantasy author, long based in Ireland. She is best known for her Young Wizards young adult fantasy series and the Rihannsu Star Trek novels. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Diane has also created the "Middle Kingdoms" epic fantasy series, and numerous stand-alone fantasy and science fiction novels.

Her professional journey includes extensive work in the Star Trek universe, and many scripts for live-action and animated TV series on both sides of the Atlantic. Diane has also ventured into the world of comics and computer games. Her work has frequently appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List, and she has received various awards and nominations.

Diane Duane resides in County Wicklow, Ireland, with her husband of more than thirty years, the screenwriter and novelist, Michael Scott.
