Devdutt Pattanaik

Devdutt Pattanaik is a renowned mythologist and writer from Orissa, India, whose parents migrated to Mumbai before his birth. He has been instrumental in mainstreaming mythology in India over the past 30 years. His work focuses on the relevance of Indian and Western myths in modern life, exploring cultural truths revealed through stories, symbols, and rituals.

He has authored and illustrated over 50 books, including ABC Of Hinduism, Bahubali: 63 Insights into Jainism, and Yoga Mythology: 64 Asanas and Their Stories. A regular columnist for reputed newspapers like Mid-day, Times of India, and Dainik Bhaskar, Pattanaik is also known for his TED talk, his TV shows Business Sutra and Devlok, and hosting a radio show/podcast for Radio Mirchi, called The Devdutt Pattanaik Show.

A medical doctor by training, he spent 15 years in the Pharma and healthcare industry. However, his passion for the cultural impact of mythology has been his primary focus for three decades. He emphasizes that "no society can exist without myth as it creates notions of right and wrong, good and bad, heaven and hell, rights and duties."

Devdutt believes in leadership that encourages authenticity and awareness of others' fears, advocating for harmony in organizations through congruent beliefs. He avoids partisan views, critiquing both ends of the political spectrum and remains wary of influences that distort cultural realities.

His mission is "to make knowledge accessible" and to promote the widespread flow of wisdom, as represented by Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge. Devdutt Pattanaik continues to be a prominent figure in bringing mythology into contemporary relevance.
