Dawn Cook

Dawn Cook is an American author, also well-known by her pseudonym Kim Harrison.

Cook was born on September 30, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan, USA. She grew up in the Midwest with her brothers and describes herself as a "former tomboy." Her early reading interests were in science fiction and fairytales.

She discovered her talent for writing at the age of 15 and despite her love for it, took an unusual approach by avoiding advanced English courses in school. After obtaining a Degree in Sciences, she moved to South Carolina for ten years and eventually returned to her home state of Michigan. She is married with two children.

Under the name Kim Harrison, Cook is best known for the New York Times #1 best-selling "Hollows" urban fantasy series. She has published over two dozen books including genres such as young adult, accelerated-science thrillers, anthologies, and graphic novels in the Hollows universe. As Dawn Cook, she wrote the "Decoy Princess" and "Truth" series in the early 21st century.

Her "Rachel Morgan" urban fantasy series presents an alternate history involving a worldwide pandemic caused by genetically modified tomatoes. Cook has received acclaim from fellow authors and has reached the #1 spot on the New York Times Best Seller list.
