David Wingrove is a British science fiction writer born on 1 September 1954 in North Battersea, London. He is best known as the author of the Chung Kuo novels, a series well-acclaimed in the science fiction genre. Wingrove is also recognized as the co-author, alongside Rand and Robyn Miller, of the three Myst novels.
Before embarking on his writing career, Wingrove worked in the banking industry for seven years. Dissatisfied with this career path, he pursued studies at the University of Kent, Canterbury, focusing on English and American Literature.
Wingrove has a robust family life with his wife, Susan, and their four daughters: Jessica, Amy, Georgia, and Francesca. Between 1972 and 1982, he penned over 300 unpublished short stories and 15 novels, showcasing his dedication to the craft.
He began working on a new fictional project titled A Perfect Art, which underwent various changes between 1984 and 1988 before its first submission.
