David Lipsky is an American author born on July 20, 1965. His works have been acclaimed and recognized as New York Times bestsellers, New York Times Notable Books, and have been featured in Time, Amazon, The New Yorker, Publishers Weekly, and NPR Best Books of the Year. His writings have also been included in The Best American Magazine Writing and The Best American Short Stories collections.
Lipsky received the prestigious National Magazine Award in 2009. In 2015, he was portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg in the feature film The End of the Tour, an adaptation of his memoir Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself. He is currently a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and resides in New York City.
His fiction and nonfiction are also published in The New Yorker, Harper's Magazine, The Best American Short Stories, The Best American Magazine Writing, The New York Times, and The New York Times Book Review. He contributes as an essayist to NPR's All Things Considered and is the recipient of a Lambert Fellowship, a Media Award from GLAAD, and a National Magazine Award. He's authored the novel The Art Fair, a collection of stories, Three Thousand Dollars, and the bestselling nonfiction book Absolutely American, which was a Time magazine Best Book of the Year.
