Curtis Sittenfeld

Elizabeth Curtis Sittenfeld is an American writer born on August 23, 1975. She is renowned for her extensive collection of works, including a collection of short stories titled You Think it, I’ll Say It (2018), and seven significant novels. Her debut novel, Prep (2005), explores the life of students at a Massachusetts prep school. Following this, she authored The Man of My Dreams (2006), a coming-of-age novel that delves into romantic love.

Her work American Wife (2008) is a fictional narrative loosely inspired by the life of First Lady Laura Bush. In 2013, she published Sisterland, a story about identical twins with psychic abilities. Her 2016 novel Eligible is a contemporary retelling of Pride and Prejudice. More recently, she ventured into alternate historical fiction with Rodham (2020), a novel exploring the life of Hillary Clinton, and in 2023, she released Romantic Comedy, depicting a romance between a comedy writer and a pop star.

Sittenfeld's works have been translated into thirty languages. Her short stories have been featured in various prestigious publications such as The New Yorker, The Washington Post Magazine, Esquire, and The Best American Short Stories, where she also served as a guest editor. Additionally, her nonfiction has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Time, Vanity Fair, and on public radio's This American Life.
