Chris Wooding

Chris Wooding is a British writer, born on 28 February 1977 in Leicester, now residing in London. He wrote his first book, Crashing, at the age of nineteen, and it was published in 1998 when he was twenty-one. Since then, he has written numerous books, including The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray, a silver runner-up for the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize, and Poison, which won the Lancashire Children's Book of the Year.

Chris is the author of several completed series: Broken Sky, an anime-influenced fantasy serial for children; Braided Path, a fantasy trilogy for adults; and Malice, a young adult fantasy that mixes graphic novel with the traditional novel. He also created the four-part series, Tales of the Ketty Jay, a steampunk sci-fi fantasy for adults.

Wooding grew up in a small town in Leicestershire, where not much happened, prompting him to start writing novels at sixteen. He secured an agent by eighteen and signed his first book deal by nineteen. Upon leaving university, he began writing full-time and has since authored over twenty books, translated into twenty languages and published around the world. He also writes for film and television, with various projects in development.

Throughout his life, Chris has traveled extensively, backpacking across Europe, North America, Scandinavia, South East Asia, Japan, and South Africa. He lived in Madrid for a while and spent his twenties touring with bands across the UK and Europe. Interestingly, his family tree traces back to John Milton, author of Paradise Lost.
