Chris Wooding

Chris Wooding is a British writer, born on 28 February 1977 in Leicester, and now residing in London. He penned his first book, Crashing, at the age of nineteen, which was published in 1998 when he was twenty-one. Since then, he has authored numerous works, including The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray, a silver runner-up for the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize, and Poison, the winner of the Lancashire Children's Book of the Year.

Wooding is the author of several series: Broken Sky, an anime-influenced fantasy serial for children; Braided Path, a fantasy trilogy for adults; Malice, a young adult fantasy blending graphic novel and traditional novel styles; and Tales of the Ketty Jay, a four-part steampunk sci-fi fantasy for adults.

He grew up in a small town in Leicestershire where he began writing novels, completing his first at sixteen. By nineteen, he had his first book deal. After university, he became a full-time writer and has since written over twenty books, translated into twenty languages and winning various awards globally. Additionally, he writes for film and television and has several projects in development.

Wooding has traveled extensively worldwide, backpacking across Europe, North America, Scandinavia, South East Asia, Japan, and South Africa. He lived in Madrid for some time and toured with bands across the UK and Europe.

Interestingly, his family tree traces back to John Milton, author of Paradise Lost.
