China Miéville is an English author best known for his works of speculative fiction, particularly in the subgenre known as 'weird fiction.' He has won the Arthur C. Clarke Award three times and has also received the British Fantasy Award twice.
Miéville is recognized for his intricate world-building and imaginative narratives that often explore themes of social justice, political corruption, and the complexities of human nature. His notable works include Perdido Street Station, The Scar, and Iron Council, which are set in the richly detailed fantasy world of Bas-Lag.
In addition to his fiction, Miéville has also published academic works on Marxism, international law, and social theory. He holds a PhD in international relations from the London School of Economics.
