Charlie Lovett, a bestselling novelist, bibliophile, podcast producer, children's playwright, and an expert on both the works and the life of Lewis Carroll, was born in 1962 in Winston-Salem, NC. Lovett boasts the world's largest collection of Carollean memorabilia and has served as president of the Lewis Carroll Society of North America twice.
Growing up as the child of an English professor and spending summers in the rural North Carolina mountains, Lovett developed an affinity for the countryside. He was educated at Summit School, Woodberry Forest School (VA), and Davidson College (NC). In 1984, he entered the antiquarian book business with his first wife, Stephanie, and began to seriously collect books and materials related to Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
After leaving the book business in the early '90s, Lovett continued his journey as a book collector, amassing a significant collection of rare and valuable books and artifacts connected to Lewis Carroll. In 1997, he received his MFA, further solidifying his deep involvement in the literary world.
