Charles Sheehan-Miles is an American writer and veterans' advocate, born in 1971 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He grew up in Atlanta and served in the United States Army during the 1991 Persian Gulf War as a tank crewman in the 24th Infantry Division. He was decorated for valor for helping rescue fellow tank crewmen from a burning tank during the Battle of Rumaila.
After the Gulf War, Charles became affiliated with numerous advocacy organizations, including serving as executive director of the National Gulf War Resource Center and the Nuclear Policy Research Institute. He was also a board member at the Education for Peace in Iraq Center and the founder/executive director of Veterans for Common Sense.
Charles Sheehan-Miles is the author of multiple novels, including Prayer at Rumayla (2001), Republic: A Novel of America's Future (2007), Insurgent: Book 2 of America's Future (2012), Just Remember to Breathe (2012), and A Song for Julia (2012). Several of his novels have been translated into multiple languages.
In addition to his writing career, Charles has been a soldier, computer programmer, short-order cook, and non-profit executive. He is a member of The Authors Guild and the Association of Independent Authors. He lives and writes with his wife Andrea Randall in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
