Charles C. Mann

Charles C. Mann is an American journalist and author, specializing in scientific topics. In 2006, his book 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus won the National Academies Communication Award for best book of the year. Mann is known as the co-author of four books, and a contributing editor for Science, The Atlantic Monthly, and Wired. As a three-time National Magazine Award finalist, he has received awards from the American Bar Association, the Margaret Sanger Foundation, the American Institute of Physics, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, among others. His writing was selected for The Best American Science Writing 2003 and The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2003. He resides in Amherst, Massachusetts with his wife and children.
