Catherine Fisher

Catherine Fisher is a renowned poet and novelist for children and young adults, best known for her internationally bestselling novels Incarceron and its sequel, Sapphique. With over 40 novels and 5 volumes of poetry to her name, she has significantly contributed to literature.

Born in Newport, Wales, Fisher graduated from the University of Wales with a degree in English, nurturing a fascination for myth and history. Her career spans roles as an archaeologist and educator, including serving as a lecturer in creative writing at the University of Glamorgan.

A Fellow of the Welsh Academy, Fisher is an acclaimed poet and novelist, regularly engaging audiences through lectures and readings for various groups. She leads sessions for teachers and librarians and is an experienced broadcaster and adjudicator, also teaching at the Arvon Foundation and Ty Newydd Writers' Centres.

Her poetry, featured in leading periodicals and anthologies, includes the award-winning volume Immrama, which secured the WAC Young Writers' Prize. Catherine has garnered numerous awards and much critical acclaim throughout her career, including winning the Cardiff International Poetry Competition.
