Catherine Fisher

Catherine Fisher is a renowned poet and novelist, particularly known for her works aimed at children and young adults. Born in Newport, Wales, she developed a fascination for myth and history while pursuing her degree in English at the University of Wales.

Fisher is best known for her internationally bestselling novel Incarceron and its sequel Sapphique. Over her prolific career, she has published more than 40 novels and 5 volumes of poetry. Her contributions to literature have not gone unnoticed, with numerous awards and critical acclaim highlighting her achievements.

In addition to her literary pursuits, Catherine has worked in education and archaeology and has been a lecturer in creative writing at the University of Glamorgan. Her dynamic career also encompasses roles as a broadcaster and adjudicator. Catherine is a Fellow of the Welsh Academy and has been actively involved in teaching and mentoring at prominent writers' centres such as the Arvon Foundation and Ty Newydd Writers' Centres.

Residing in Newport, Gwent, Catherine continues to engage audiences with her readings and lectures, sharing her passion for literature with groups of all ages.
