Carolyn MacCullough

Carolyn MacCullough received her MFA in Creative Writing from the New School and resides with her husband in Brooklyn. Born and raised in Connecticut, she had a relatively drama-free childhood, which perhaps spurred her early love for books. She always envisioned herself as a writer, though she entertained notions of becoming a ballerina, pilot, and a princess in a tower. Her writing journey began with scribbling stories about dragons and poems about her sisters.

After graduating with a BA in Theatre from Grinnell College, Carolyn moved to New York, juggling a day job and night classes for her Masters in Creative Writing. Her first novel, Falling Through Darkness, was published by Roaring Brook Press, marking the start of her published career. Subsequent novels include Stealing Henry, Drawing the Ocean, Once a Witch, and its sequel Always a Witch.

Beyond writing, Carolyn has taught creative writing and composition to various audiences and has shared her expertise in ESL both abroad and in the U.S. Her life, filled with books and education, remains her personal magical fairytale, ever awaiting that proverbial unicorn.
