Cammie McGovern

Cammie McGovern is a distinguished author known for her novels aimed at children and young adults. Her work often incorporates themes of disability, showcasing the lives of young people with disabilities in a compelling and authentic way. She is the author of several books, including "The Art of Seeing," "Eye Contact," "Neighborhood Watch," "Chester & Gus," and "Say What You Will."

In addition to her fiction, McGovern has written "HARD LANDINGS," a poignant memoir about the transition her oldest son, who has autism, made into adult services. Her novels for young adults such as "SAY WHAT YOU WILL," "A STEP TOWARD FALLING," and "JUST BREATHE," as well as her middle-grade books "JUST MY LUCK," "CHESTER AND GUS," and "FRANKIE AND AMELIA," have been praised for their honest and inspiring portrayal of characters with disabilities.

A Stegner Fellow at Stanford, McGovern has received the Nelson Algren Award in short fiction. Her work has appeared in notable publications such as The New York Times, Ladies Home Journal, Redbook, and Seventeen. She is also a co-founder of Whole Children/Milestones, a resource center for children and young adults with disabilities and their families. McGovern resides in Amherst, MA, with her husband and three sons.
