C.J. Roberts

C.J. Roberts is an indie author known for her dark, erotic stories with taboo twists. Her debut novel, Captive in the Dark, was independently published in 2011 and is regarded as a pioneering work in the dark romance genre of the indie author movement. Her works have been both celebrated and criticized by readers.


In 2020, C.J. Roberts was featured in the documentary film Naughty Books by Austen Rachlis, which explores the journeys of several pioneers in the indie romance author movement.


Born and raised in Southern California, C.J. Roberts served in the U.S. Air Force, allowing her to travel extensively. She is married and has two children, grandchildren, and a love for animals.


Her writing is inspired by everything she sees, feels, reads, and experiences, and she enjoys exploring the seedier side of cities during her travels.
