Brian McClellan

Brian McClellan is an American author of epic fantasy, best known for writing the trilogies The Powder Mage and Gods of Blood and Powder. Born on January 25, 1986, in Cleveland, Ohio, McClellan began writing at the age of fifteen, inspired by his interest in role-playing games like The Wheel of Time.

During his teenage years, encouraged by his parents, he started working on short stories and novels. He pursued a degree in English Literature with a focus on creative writing at Brigham Young University where he met fellow author Brandon Sanderson and attended his creative writing classes.

In 2013, McClellan published his first book, Promise of Blood. This was followed by The Crimson Campaign in May 2014, and he concluded the Powder Mage trilogy with The Autumn Republic in February 2015. His next series, Gods of Blood and Powder, continued his exploration of epic fantasy.

He now resides in Utah with his wife, Michele, where he continues to write while indulging in his passion for video games. Notably, he won the Morningstar Award for Best Fantasy Novel in 2014 for Promise of Blood.
