Blaine Harden is an American journalist and author known for his extensive work with The Washington Post, where he served for 28 years as a correspondent in Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia, as well as in New York and Seattle. He also worked as a national correspondent for The New York Times and a writer for The Times Magazine. In addition, Harden has contributed to The Economist and PBS Frontline.
One of his acclaimed works, the 2012 book "Escape from Camp 14", is an official biography of North Korean defector Shin Dong-hyuk. His newest book, "Murder at the Mission: A Frontier Killing, Its Legacy of Lies, and the Taking of the American West", has been praised by the New York Times columnist Tim Egan as a "terrific" deconstruction of a Big Lie about the West.
