Barry Finlay

Barry Finlay is an award-winning and Amazon bestselling author known for his inspirational, humorous, mystery, and thriller novels. He had an extensive career in financial management, retiring in 2004 after thirty-two years with the Canadian federal government. Not only is Barry a Chartered Professional Accountant, but he is also an award-winning decorative wood carver.

In 2009, Barry Finlay transformed his life when he climbed Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro at age 60 with his son Chris. This life-changing experience, along with their fundraising efforts to help children in Tanzania, marked the beginning of his writing journey. He authored his first book, Kilimanjaro and Beyond: A Life-Changing Journey, with his son in 2014.

Barry has since written numerous books, including the humorous travel memoir, I Guess We Missed The Boat, and launched The Marcie Kane Thriller Collection with titles such as The Vanishing Wife, A Perilous Question, Remote Access, Never So Alone (novella), and The Burden of Darkness. He also penned the Jake Scott Series, which includes Searching For Truth, The Guardians of Truth, and The Secret Truth, released in 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively.

Apart from thriller and mystery novels, Barry has authored Just Keep Climbing: Inspirational Stories for Overcoming Challenges and Living Life, a reflection on his mountain-climbing experience, and My Limitless Life, the story of Karen Meades, the first Canadian woman to complete the 4 Deserts Ultramarathon series.

Barry lives with his wife, Evelyn, in Ottawa, Canada, and continues to engage in philanthropic work through his Keep On Climbing initiative. He was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013 for his philanthropic contributions in Tanzania.
