Arthur Bennett was an esteemed English naturalist, born in Croydon on June 19, 1843, and he passed away in London on May 2, 1929.
He rose to prominence after the death of Alfred Fryer (1826-1912), becoming a recognized authority on the genus Potamogeton. Bennett's dedication to the field led him to publish subsequent parts of Fryer's work, "The Potamogetons (Pond Weeds) of the British Isles," in 1898.
His collaboration with Robert Morgan (1863-1900), who illustrated Fryer's monograph contributions, is noteworthy.
