Antony Loewenstein

Antony Loewenstein is a freelance investigative journalist, author, and filmmaker based in Sydney. He describes himself as a Jewish atheist and is well-known for his criticism of the treatment of Palestinians by the Israeli Government. Notably, his grandparents escaped the Holocaust in Nazi Germany, yet Loewenstein decided to take up German citizenship as an adult.

His works have made significant impacts, including his 2023 book, The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports the Technology of Occupation Around the World, which won and was shortlisted for several awards.

Loewenstein is an independent journalist and best-selling author, co-founder of Declassified Australia. His articles have appeared in The Guardian, The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, among others. His notable books include The Palestine Laboratory, Pills, Powder and Smoke, Disaster Capitalism, and My Israel Question. His documentary films include Disaster Capitalism and Al Jazeera English's West Africa's Opioid Crisis and Under the Cover of Covid. From 2016 to 2020, he was based in East Jerusalem.
