Andrus Kivirähk

Andrus Kivirähk is an Estonian writer, a playwright, topical satirist, and screenwriter. He is known for his self-mocking and sarcastic writing style with dark humour. Two of his most notable works are "Rehepapp ehk November" and "Mees, kes teadis ussisõnu", the latter being translated into English as "The Man Who Spoke Snakish". His books resonate strongly with contemporary Estonian society and are widely popular, with "Rehepapp ehk November" selling 25,000 copies by 2004, making him the most popular 21st-century Estonian writer.

In addition to his novels and plays, Kivirähk is an author of children's literature, with works like "Leiutajateküla Lotte" and its sequels, and wrote the screenplay for the cartoon based on it. He has been a member of the Estonian Writers' Union (Eesti Kirjanike Liit) since 1996.
