Amy McCulloch

Amy McCulloch is a Chinese-White author with roots in the UK, and upbringing in Ottawa, Canada. She is now based in London, UK. McCulloch is an award-winning author known for her international bestselling thriller novel Breathless. She also co-authored the #1 YA bestselling novel THE MAGPIE SOCIETY: One for Sorrow, and has penned seven solo novels for children and young adults. Her subsequent thrillers include Midnight, an instant national bestseller in Canada released in 2023 (UK) and 2024 (US/Canada), and Runner 13 set to be published in 2025.

Prior to dedicating her time to writing full-time, McCulloch served as the editorial director for Penguin Random House Children's Books. In 2013, she earned the honor of being listed among The Bookseller's Rising Stars of publishing. McCulloch's life beyond writing is marked by a passion for adventure, particularly in travelling, hiking, and mountaineering. She has achieved the distinction of becoming the youngest Canadian woman to scale Mt Manaslu in Nepal—the world's eighth-highest mountain. In 2022, she also completed the Marathon des Sables, a grueling 250km ultramarathon through the Sahara Desert, often referred to as "the toughest footrace on Earth". Her personal indulgences include a love for coffee, ramen, and an unwavering appetite for exceptional books.
