Amanda Eyre Ward

Amanda Eyre Ward was born in New York City in 1972 and later moved to Rye, New York at the age of four. She fostered her passion for writing at Kent School in Kent, Connecticut, where she contributed to the Kent News.

She pursued an education in English and American Studies at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, honing her fiction writing skills under the guidance of Jim Shepard and spending time in coastal Kenya during her junior year. Her connection to literature deepened as she worked part-time at the Williamstown Public Library.

Following her graduation, Amanda embarked on a year of teaching at Athens College in Greece. She then settled in Missoula, Montana, where she studied fiction writing at the University of Montana with renowned author Bill Kittredge.

Amanda is the New York Times bestselling author of several novels, including Sleep Toward Heaven, How to Be Lost, Love Stories in This Town, Forgive Me, Close Your Eyes, The Same Sky, The Nearness of You, The Jetsetters, and The Lifeguards. Her work has not only gained popularity among readers but has also been recognized in esteemed publications such as People Magazine and The New York Times.

In addition to her novels, Amanda has contributed nonfiction pieces to Travel + Leisure, The New York Times, Texas Monthly, and has published original work on Audible.com. Her writing has been optioned for film and television, translated into fifteen languages, and has been inspired by her experiences and travels to places such as Austin, South Africa, Cape Cod, Montana, Maine, New York City, Brownsville, San Diego, and New Orleans.

Amanda resides in Austin, Texas, where she continues to draw inspiration for her stories and is set to publish her new novel, Lovers and Liars, in May 2024.
