Alvin Schwartz was an American author and journalist known for his extensive work on folklore and wordplay. He authored more than fifty books, many of which were aimed at young readers. Schwartz is often confused with another writer of the same name who wrote comic strips for Superman and Batman, as well as a novel titled 'The Blowtop'.
