Allyson Braithwaite Condie, born November 2, 1978, is a celebrated author of young adult and middle grade fiction. Her novel Matched was a #1 New York Times and international bestseller, spending over a year on the New York Times Bestseller List. The sequels, Crossed and Reached, continued the success as New York Times bestsellers. Matched was recognized as one of YALSA's 2011 Teens' Top Ten and named one of Publishers Weekly's Best Children's Books of 2010, with the series available in over 30 languages.
Condie is also the author of the New York Times bestseller Atlantia (2014) and Summerlost (2016), the latter being a finalist for the 2017 Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery. Beyond her writing, she is the founder and director of the WriteOut Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to running writing camps for rural teens. Condie is actively involved with several other non-profit organizations, including Yallwest Board, aiming to make books accessible to local children, and Go Jane Give, organizing donations to refugees.
Previously, Condie worked as a high school English teacher and now resides outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband and four children. She enjoys reading, running, eating, and listening to her husband play guitar.
