Allegra Goodman

Allegra Goodman is an American writer based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was born in 1967 in Brooklyn. Goodman is known for her engaging storytelling and has captivated readers with her novels. Her most recent novel, The Chalk Artist, was published in 2017. She began her literary journey at a young age, having written and illustrated her first novel at the age of seven.

Allegra's latest work, "Isola", is based on the true story of a young woman who sails from France to the New World in 1542 and finds herself marooned on an island in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Her novel "Sam" is celebrated for its portrayal of a young girl's coming of age and was selected by Jenna Bush Hager for her Today Show book club.

Allegra was raised in Honolulu, where she enjoyed a unique childhood, including going shoeless to school until the fifth grade. Now residing in Cambridge, MA, she continues to enchant readers with her distinctive voice and narratives.
