Albert Sánchez Piñol

Albert Sánchez Piñol (born 11 July 1965) is a Spanish anthropologist and novelist, acclaimed for his works written in both Catalan and Spanish. He is recognized as a pivotal European writer and is noted for his contributions to literature paralleled with renowned authors such as Joseph Conrad, Robert Louis Stevenson, and H.P. Lovecraft.

Sánchez Piñol was born in Barcelona and pursued studies in Anthropology at the University of Barcelona. Although he did not complete his Law degree, his academic journey in anthropology significantly influenced his literary career. He is associated with the Center of African Studies and has contributed to several encyclopedic CD-ROM projects.

His debut novel, Cold Skin (La piel fría), received unanimous praise from both critics and audiences, earning him the Ojo Crítico Narrativa prize upon its original publication in Catalan in 2003. The novel has been translated into fifteen languages and marks his international acclaim in the literary world.
