Alastair Reynolds

Alastair Preston Reynolds is a renowned Welsh science fiction author, born on 13 March 1966. He specializes in hard science fiction and space opera.

Before embarking on a full-time writing career, Reynolds was a scientist. He worked in astronomy and astrophysics and spent a significant period at the European Space Agency's research center in the Netherlands. His scientific background profoundly influences his fiction.

Reynolds began his writing journey in the early 1990s, publishing short stories in the British SF magazine Interzone. His first novel, Revelation Space, set in a consistent future universe, marked the beginning of a successful writing career. He has since published numerous novels and short stories, exploring various themes and settings.
