Adania Shibli is a Palestinian author and essayist, born in 1974 in Palestine. She gained significant recognition for her works, particularly the 2020 translation of her novel Minor Detail into English by Elisabeth Jaquette. This book also saw a German translation in 2022 by Günther Orth, leading to public controversy in Germany following the cancellation of a literary prize at the 2023 Frankfurt Book Fair.
Shibli’s first two novels were published in English by Clockroot Books: Touch (translated by Paula Haydar, 2010) and We Are All Equally Far From Love (translated by Paul Starkey, 2012). Her literary talents have been recognized with the Young Writer’s Award by the A. M. Qattan Foundation in both 2002 and 2004.
